I have had children in special education before and it has helped them. Special education is very much needed and important to those who struggle

Because I know first hand how much work these teachers put into their teaching jobs and students. Each individual child requires different needs that takes more time for these teachers. These students deserve an equal opportunity in their teaching environment. If teachers are tired and not given what they are deserving of it could affect our students.

These kids need full support so that they can thrive in the community. Special Ed is important and should get the funding it needs.

I have a friend that has a Down’s Syndrome child who was doing great in the program she was in close to her home and this will change her to a situation to one that will be very difficult for her and her family.

Do we value our children or not? This seems simple. Give our children what they need to thrive and build strong communities across generations.

I work in SpecialEd. As the largest district, granite has the opportunity to be a champion for our most vulnerable children. Special Ed has been chronically underfunded for years. It makes it impossible to meet all IEP goals and federal regulations. Children will continue to be at risk and staff will be harder to retain exacerbating the problems.

Please support the needs of our Special Ed students by returning the budget allocation and funding for teachers.

Reduced special education staffing increases the risks that students will not receive FAPE. When we don’t provide what a child needs we change the trajectory of their lives. We must do better.
