Decision Makers: UWCSEA Board of Governors

Winston Lee, a UWC Atlantic graduate was involved in the sexual assault case that occurred at Cornell University in 2024. The victim of this case, a former Cornell student, identifies by the name Jane Doe, and states she was drugged and sexually assaulted by multiple members of a fraternity, namely, Matthew Ingalls, Johnathan Newell, Gillio Lopes

, Gillio Lopes, Diego Sarabia, Scott Norris, Scott Kretzschmar, and WINSTON LEE!!. As a fellow UWC student, I can't stress just how morally reprehensible this is. Nevertheless, there is opportunity for justice. I hereby urge you to revoke his scholarship, as we can't allow this behavior to be exonerated.

- Yana Johar, Grade 11 at UWCSEA Dover

it isn't right that someone like this gets a prestigious scholarship, isn't right that he's barely faced any consequences so far. as someone affiliated with uwc our colleges shouldn't be represented by someone like him- not only has he gone against our values and what uwc aspires its students to become, he's also taken away a huge part of someone else's life without a second thought. so yeah- i hope we get his scholarship revoked.

This person should not be representing what UWC schools stand for and he is not worthy of this scholarship as a graduate of a school with such values

I am a current UWCRCN student, and it is upsetting to see people associated with the school commit such acts, and I believe it this behaviour should not be rewarded and protected by the system.

As a student that goes to uwc and has been a student for a long time, this case truly saddens me to know that the value system that our school tries so hard to instill in us fails time and time again in numerous students. this is just one case of that. the fact that no action was taken beyond writing an essay illustrates that ongoing patriarchy is not going to stop and assault is very much normalized in our day-to-day lives. This student is incapable of showing True Values of a former uwc studen

this is disgauting behaviour coming from a student who had the privileges of going to a school where we learn all about respect, boundaries, and critical awareness. absolutely shattering that he represented our school, when he goes FAR beyond what uwc strives to be. his scholarship should be revoked as he has gone above and beyond all values we hold, and has critically changed someone’s life for the worst. please act on this everyone!!!

As an alum of UWC Red Cross Nordic, this behavior is despicable and deserves consequences.

Those involved in sexual assault cases do not deserve scholarships
