Abby is one of our best friends, and what happened here feels less like guidance and more like punishment for being a teenager and having fun. Growing up should include joy, mistakes, laughter, and the chance to learn by doing. When a young person is grounded simply for acting their age, it sends the message that they are not trusted to be themselves.

Abby deserves better than to be shut away from the people and activities that help her grow. She is amazing just as she is: funny, spirited, kind, and full of life. Those of us who care about her know that she is not a problem to be managed. She is a young girl and her parents just need to be reminded of what a good kid abby is.
