Reduction of staffing from 4 to 3 is unacceptable. We should be always moving to improve our response times and to accommodate with a growing city. This decision will put the people that reside and pass through Fort Worth in danger.

The city needs to bring the fire department up to competitive pay to surrounding cities to keep from losing firefighters to other cities. The citizens should have skilled and experienced firefighters and EMS instead of a constant rotation of newly trained personnel which is where the department is headed if pay and benefits aren’t brought up to a competitive level.

They run toward emergencies that most people are trained to avoid, including fires, rescues, and hazardous-material incidents.
Their work protects both lives and property, which can save communities major losses when fires are stopped early.
The job often involves irregular shifts, overtime, missed family time, and stress that can affect health over years.

I was one of the people who took that City survey about what's important to me. The answer is emergency services and infrastructure, in that order. I also listed a lot of ways they could cut the budget. City of Fort Worth needs to listen to its residents, and keep us safe!

It’s about taking care of those that take care of you. I have a son on this department making him a second generation firefighter. I’ve seen the sacrifices that are made without hesitations for the last 25 years and have added to our numbers by bringing in the ambulance service. We have always put the citizens first when it comes to response and will continue to do so because we’ve sworn to do so without hesitation. I hope and pray that you do what’s right for the citizens of Fort Worth.

It is truly appalling and heartbreaking that it is even in consideration to make the lives of firefighters/EMTS harder and with more limitations as they are literally saving lives. I sincerely hope that this does not occur and if for some reason it does, I hope the lives of those directly impacted for the worse, and God forbid lives lost, will be felt by those who made this decision.
