It is a shame having to sign this, Fireman risk their lives for our safety, they do not make enough as it is and are stretched for help. Those trying to stop the pay should be ashamed to even think this should happen.

Public safety is a critical public service provided by local government. There are no backup plans provided by the public or private sector. When a citizen does not know what to do, they pick up their phone, dial 911 and expect an answer. The fire department is most often that answer. The citizens of Fort Worth deserve smart, brave, and honorable people on fire trucks and ambulances.

I am the fiance of a firefighter. His life and safety are extremely important. The city NEEDS to step up and fund, staff, and equip the fire department correctly. This affects the safety of our community and our firefighters. It should be of the utmost important to ensure that they are paid properly, have the equipment they need, and that needs are met in a timely manner.

As a former Ft Worth Firefighter I am well aware of the harm done by these reductions. Budget battles are nothing new, the city of Fort Worth as all cities will cut fundamental programs way before desired programs, IE: that ridiculous lake on the Trinity. Support the FWFD!
