This kind of change should not be on anyone’s radar. This is unacceptable. Fewer personnel can cause delayed rescue operations, increase physical demands leading to more fatigue and risk of injury, limited ability to work in teams or pairs following a “2 in 2 out” or additional backup, increased mental workload, etc. This puts not only the responders at risk but the public. When trying to make staffing decisions these are the situations that need to be thought about.

I do not live in Fort Worth but we travel through or to businesses there. If we ever need to call emergency services it is essential that the response is sufficient, not lacking.

It is crucial for firefighters to be able to respond fully functional and staffed. A longer wait time means a longer risk of damage happening even death at times it is insane that this is even being considered. Firefighters and EMS actually additional funding rather than cuts.

Reduction of staffing from 4 to 3 is unacceptable. We should be always moving to improve our response times and to accommodate with a growing city. This decision will put the people that reside and pass through Fort Worth in danger.

The city needs to bring the fire department up to competitive pay to surrounding cities to keep from losing firefighters to other cities. The citizens should have skilled and experienced firefighters and EMS instead of a constant rotation of newly trained personnel which is where the department is headed if pay and benefits aren’t brought up to a competitive level.
