Packaged foods can contain high amounts of sugar, sodium, and saturated fat. Regular consumption of foods high in these nutrients can contribute to health problems such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease.
Front-of-Pack Warning Labels (FOPWL) provide clear, easy-to-see warnings on the front of food packages when they contain excessive amounts of nutrients of concern.
We are calling for mandatory Front-of-Pack Warning Labels on packaged foods in Pakistan to help consumers quickly understand what they are buying and make more informed food choices.
Clear food labels can help people recognize products that are high in nutrients of concern and support healthier choices.

I completely support this initiative. In Pakistan, we are seeing children suffer from heart attacks and diabetes due to the lack of clear warning labels. The most unhealthy products are designed with kids friendly packaging and cartoon characters to grab children's attention and increase their desire for them. Pakistan needs to act on this immediately to save our younger generation.
