I think yearly mandatory inspections is absurd, I say do away with inspections every year

If government vehicles aren’t required. we shouldn’t be either and don’t need to pay money every year for them to tell me i need to spend more money for my vehicle to be “safe”

Some of the things that are inspected shouldn't even matter anyway my last inspection I failed last year due to the guy wanting to be in my back seat to check the seatbelts which worked anyway but I had a cat cage and he said I failed because he didn't want to move it to test the seatbelts which I had to go home unloaded it and took it back a week later when he had time just so he could sit in my back seat and check it. No one rides in my back seat.

Safety inspections do not statistically reduce accidents or the number of fatalities/injuries. The auto mechanic lobby wants this law on the books to increase business since they fail unsuspecting owners with random issues and offer to fix on the spot for exhorbant prices which amounts to legalized extortion-

It's just another way for the state to have control and take money from us that we need for gas or food. Many other states don't do this and they have no issues with "unsafe" cars constantly crashing and killing people on the roads. It's just another racket.

Conflict of interest having repair shops trying to find things to repair on your vehicle. I had to call a trooper in last year to contest a bogus rejection. He agreed it was not justified.

Because not only do I agree but it’s just wrong that in most other states this isn’t a requirement. Furthermore in Virginia you are required to pay personal property taxes on vehicle you technically don’t even own yet just making more for the case that it’s just an extra financial burden to have to have the vehicle inspected.

We already pay for registration, personal property car tax, and car insurance that's "mandatory" so please eliminate some cost to help us better afford our lives. That is what you were hired for in the first place Abigail which is lowering costs or completely eliminating some costs for the Virginians that voted for you.
