When history books talk about Dolly the Sheep, they focus on the laboratory. But Dolly’s real triumph was her life as a mother. She gave birth naturally to six healthy lambs: Bonnie, Sally, Rosie, Darcy, Lucy, and finally, Cotton.
While Dolly’s other lambs and genetic sister clones were given warm, human names, Cotton stood out. Because of this, Cotton is often the "left-out one." She is treated like a scientific footnote rather than a beloved member of Dolly's family. Her siblings get remembered as family, but Cotton is often left in the shadows.
We are petitioning the Roslin Institute and National Museums Scotland to do justice for Cotton. We demand that Cotton be officially highlighted alongside her siblings in all educational materials, museum displays, and archives. She was Dolly's final baby, and she deserves to be fully included, celebrated, and loved by history just like the rest of her family.
