We are asking the city to reopen Colonial Road at the intersection of Neptune Ave and Hubbards Path, and to stop treating it as a dead end. No one in the area received any notice about the closure, and it has cut off access in a way that is now affecting daily life for everyone nearby.
Because of this closure, we are seeing more traffic on local streets, including both cars and trucks. That includes trucks over 5,000 lbs., which are restricted from entering and exiting Neptune Ave, yet still need a way to reach the industrial area where many people work. This closure also cuts off six streets that connect to the industrial area, making travel harder and pushing more traffic onto roads that were not meant to carry it.
This is not just an inconvenience. It has affected our safety and our well-being. Neighbors are dealing with heavier traffic, more stress on local roads, and a community that feels less connected and less safe.
We are asking for a real solution that restores safe and sensible access. Open Colonial Road again.
