As a working student from the islands, mandatory face-to-face examinations create significant financial and professional hardship, with travel to Malé costing over MVR 15,000 and requiring leave from work. I enrolled because the programme was fully online and relied on that arrangement. This policy disproportionately disadvantages island students, limiting equal access to higher education. If changes are necessary, they should apply only to future intakes.

I am studying bachelors of shariah and law from avid college I only agreed to study because its fully online, but changing it to physical examination will be a big burden for me, as I have work in my island and need to manage leaves and arrange transportation costs since I do not have anyone in Male to keep me.

I live in an island so it will be extremely difficult for me to travel every semester for exams.

This would be extremely challenging for working students, as we would likely need to remain on leave for at least three weeks to complete the examination period, given the two- to three-day gaps between each exam. It would also place a significant burden on students who have childcare responsibilities or other family commitments.

Will be difficult to attend exam since it will be difficult to get leave from work as many other students are even in the same class.

repay the government tor all tuition fees incurred up to that point. This places an unfair financial burden and a massive debt on young citizens who simply wanted to better their education while working. A regulatory decision by the Bar Council should not inadvertently push vulnerable, hard-working students into a crippling financial trap and debt. Would also like to add that this petition has been signed by students from Zikuraa College, Villa College and Avid College

This is affecting my studies. I joined this course because it was offered online. Since I live on an island, it is difficult for me to travel. Now that the exams have been changed to physical, in-person exams, it has become very challenging for me.
