We, the undersigned parents, respectfully request that the school reconsider the departure of Ms. Diana and explore every reasonable possibility of bringing her back. Should her return not be possible, we request the appointment of a teacher with comparable qualifications, teaching experience, and proven expertise in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP).
Ms. Diana has been an exceptional educator and a valued member of the WAT community for nearly six years. With over 11 years of IB PYP teaching experience, a Master's degree, extensive international teaching experience, and additional professional certifications, she brought a level of expertise, dedication, and professionalism that parents have come to expect from WAT.
More importantly, Ms. Diana earned the trust, affection, and respect of her students and their families. The children loved her, felt supported and motivated in her classroom, and benefited from her ability to combine academic excellence with genuine care for their individual development. Her contribution went well beyond academic instruction, creating a positive, nurturing, and inspiring learning environment.
Her unexpected departure, under circumstances that have not been clearly communicated to parents, has understandably raised significant concerns about the continuity and quality of our children's education.
While we respect the school's responsibility to make staffing decisions, we are deeply concerned that her replacement, Mr. Alem, does not appear to possess comparable teaching experience or academic qualifications.
In particular, we understand that Mr. Alem does not hold a Master's degree, a qualification generally required for primary-school teachers under Article 57 of Albanian Law No. 69/2012, “Për sistemin arsimor parauniversitar në Republikën e Shqipërisë,” as amended, subject to applicable exceptions and recognition of equivalent qualifications.
Beyond the question of formal qualifications, the substantial difference in teaching experience is a serious concern. Replacing an educator with over a decade of specialized IB PYP experience with someone significantly less experienced represents, in our view, a considerable reduction in the level of educational expertise provided to our children.
As parents, we have deliberately chosen WAT and made a significant financial commitment because we expect an exceptional standard of education. We believe that this commitment should be reflected in the qualifications, experience, and competence of the teachers entrusted with our children's education.
We recognize that every teacher deserves respect and an opportunity to develop professionally. However, our children should not bear the consequences of a significant reduction in teaching experience or qualifications, particularly during such important years of their academic and personal development.
Our Request
We therefore respectfully call upon the school leadership to:
- Make every reasonable effort to reinstate Ms. Diana, whose demonstrated competence, experience, and relationship with the children have made her an invaluable part of the school community.
- If her return is not possible, appoint a teacher of comparable qualifications and experience, preferably with an established track record in the IB PYP framework.
- Provide parents with clear assurances regarding the qualifications and professional experience of the appointed teacher, including compliance with applicable Albanian educational requirements.
- Ensure that the quality and continuity of our children's education remain the school's highest priority, particularly when making decisions that directly affect their classroom environment.
We appreciate WAT's commitment to educational excellence and believe that maintaining the confidence of parents requires transparency, accountability, and a consistent commitment to the high standards the school represents.
Our intention is not to question the school's authority over staffing decisions, but to ensure that the quality of education our children receive does not fall below the standards we were promised and have every reason to expect.
We sincerely hope the school leadership will take these concerns seriously, engage constructively with parents, and act promptly to restore our confidence.
Our children deserve experienced, highly qualified teachers who inspire them, challenge them, and help them reach their full potential. We ask WAT to uphold that standard.
Respectfully,
The Undersigned Parents of WAT Students
I'm signing this petition in order to express how important is my child's education. And how important is for me as a parent to have a qualified teacher for my child.
