H.H. Sheikh Jassim: Consider Returning to the Table for Manchester United

We, Manchester United supporters from around the world, respectfully urge Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani to consider submitting a new formal proposal to acquire Manchester United Football Club.

Your previous proposal demonstrated an interest in taking full ownership of the club and addressing its long-term future. Since then, Manchester United’s ownership structure has changed, but the Glazer family remains a significant owner. We believe there is an opportunity to reconsider a full acquisition with the benefit of a united and organised global supporter base behind the proposal.

Supporters are fed up with the Glazers & Ineos and are seeking greater scrutiny of Manchester United’s ownership, financing and long-term financial sustainability through appropriate legal and regulatory channels in the United Kingdom. A supporters’ petition to the UK government has also been established calling for an independent review of these issues.

We therefore ask Sheikh Jassim to:

•⁠  ⁠Consider reopening discussions regarding a full acquisition of Manchester United.

•⁠  ⁠Consider submitting a new formal bid if an appropriate opportunity arises.

•⁠  ⁠Engage directly with recognised Manchester United supporters’ organisations worldwide.

•⁠  ⁠Set out a clear long-term vision for the club, including investment in Old Trafford, Carrington, the football operation and supporter interests.

•⁠  ⁠Consider a supporter-focused ownership model that prioritises the long-term sustainability and heritage of Manchester United.

This petition is an expression of supporter interest and does not presume that any transaction will occur or that any regulatory process will result in a change of ownership.

We simply ask Sheikh Jassim to consider whether the opportunity to acquire Manchester United, with substantial supporter backing and an independently assessed regulatory environment, is one worth revisiting.

Manchester United is more than a football club. It is a global institution with millions of supporters who care deeply about its future.
