We, local residents of Beckton and supporters of Beckton Muslim Centre, are asking for clear answers and real accountability about the management of the centre and the long delay in redeveloping the building.
Many people in the wider Beckton community are worried about how the centre is being run. There are serious concerns about mismanagement of public funds, the Executive Committee’s handling of the centre, repeated breaking of the constitution, and a lack of transparency about what is happening and why progress is taking so long. For a place that should bring people together, these concerns have created confusion, mistrust, and frustration.
We have tried to formally communicate with the Office bearers and Executive Committee Members, namely the Chairman Hasnath Ahmed Chunu, General Secretary Muthahir Ali, Vice Chairman Forhad Miah and Assistant Secretary Muhaymin Ahmed Amin. However, they have repeatedly ignored, delayed and outright refused providing a response - as the current Chairman stated; 'Who are you to question us and why should we give you any answers'.
Abuse of powers/misconduct include:
1. Muttahir Ali receiving £20K of donation monies without disclosing this to the public
2. Intended removal of EC members by the Chairman, which goes against the constitution
3. Delayed construction of the Centre and why it is costing so much to date
4. EC member involvement in orchestrating meetings with Beckton young people and instigating division in the community
This neglect and abuse of power has led us to this point. Beckton Muslim Centre should be run in a way that respects its constitution, builds trust, and serves the whole community well. People deserve clear updates, open communication, and a proper explanation of how decisions have and are being made. If changes to the management are needed, then those changes should be made so the centre can be operated in the best possible way for everyone who depends on it and not according to the interests of a select few who abuse the powers entrusted to them.
We are asking local residents of Beckton who want answers to sign this petition so we can take it to the Executive Committee to secure a meeting with the public to provide us with answers, something which they had already agreed to. The community is not asking for conflict. We are asking for honesty, accountability, and a centre that is managed with care, openness, and responsibility. Everyone who supports Beckton Muslim Centre should be able to trust that it is being run properly and in the interests of the whole community.

It is important to me because this is my local masjid and the people running it are corrupted. So we need clear transparency and corruption free community masjid. Thank you
This is the communities money that has been collated through everyone's efforts. The money belongs to the community and was raised specifically for the masjid. There has to be complete transparency and people need to be held accountable if they have decieved people.
Beckton longed for a masjid for so long after the hard work of the elders of the community who are no longer here may Allah grant them all highest ranks Jannah. Finally a masjid Alhamdulillah. However unfortunately there is corruption and division in the community. Everybody connected and responsible will be held accountable. May Allah soften our hearts and unite the community to work together and resolve these issues for the sake of Allah. Aameen

I feel that the masjid committee is abusing their trust and misusing the masjid funds. Therefore the committee needs to be held accountable for the funds.
