I agree on the fact that, if you're going to a convention in which prides itself of the creativity of the many to bring such wonderful scares and horrors to the mass populace, then a simple design to sell your merchandise or catch people's eye should be done by hand and NOT put into a machine with a prompt. Considering how many freeware programs there are, even a simple design would be seen as a better banner than commonplace AI slop.

AI "art" is plagiarism plain and simple. It's an absolute slap in the face to advertise this art fair with these gross off-putting AI images. Not only are they unappealing to look at, the moral and ethical implications are staggering. DO BETTER

GennAI takes away opportunities from real artists, it steals their work, plagiarizes their skill into something that is lazy and callous

As a creative, it is so unfair that pro AI businesses are taking away spaces from real artists and businesses who genuinely deserve a spot in the artist alley. AI is terrible for the environment and is overall a lazy shortcut to promote a business, create art, and showcase your works. Businesses that put their all into their works without the use of AI are more deserving to be at cons, they’ve put more thought, effort, and dedication into their crafts than those typing in a prompt for AI to make

Using ai makes vendors and haunts look cheap. If you cant pay an artist to make your logo or banner, why should i want to pay for your product?

Ai is not art, it has no human touch to it, it is soulless and disingenuous. It is the opposite of creativity and art. It is affront to the very reason anyone comes to Midsummer Scream.

Seeing ai openly promoted and used by companies representing creativity based events such as haunt is extremely disheartening. It makes the events feel lazy and as if they dont really care for the events their taking part in. Plus the convention staff and runners allowing this in when the vender rules state no ai is allowed is so crazy to me

As an artist, I was severely disappointed to see no regulations implemented. I inquired about a space in late spring and was told vendor spots were full. Yes, I asked late in the setup process but to see Ai generated images for sale, it severely made me question if I even wanted to return as a vendor in 2027.
No AI
Get rid of AI art… it’s not art.
