Allow pavement gullies in Hounslow for EV charging

A ev is only viable if I can change overnight outside my house. Hounslow already charge an high rate for me to park in my own road, why not include reserved space outside my own house with a slot in the pavement to put the wire.

It is clear that the council have made a decision on the roll out of lamp post charging and will not countenance any other solutions. This means that at least 38000 cars (in Hounslow) will not go electric due to the abhorrent charging costs. This is completely at odds with the government’s policy of net zero, completely at odds with the direction of vehicle technology and I suspect, a massive misuse of public money. They state they will ‘keep abreast of new technologies’ – they don’t.

This provides a simple, safe and economic way of encouraging further EV use and allowing current EV users to charge more cost effectively. The local in lamp post chargers are invariably out of order and so are actually a waste of parking space.

Hounslow Council do not fix or maintain broken chargers for months or years at a time. This makes having an electric car a pain, trying to find a charger.

I can grt n assurance from the counclil that we will have a street light charging point within 30 seconds walk of out front door - so this seems to be an obvious solution. Not perfect, but better than what we have

This would enable EV ownership to borough residents for whom it is currently not a practical choice. This would lead to improvement in air quality in our area without the further destruction of front gardens. It should form part of Hounslow’s Climate Emergency Action Plan
