Current ECRC policies do not clearly state whether a male athlete is eligible to play in the tournament.
Since January 2026, we have been asking Ringette New Brunswick (RNB) to seek approval from the Provincial bodies that make up the ECRC committee for one male athlete to play on an ECRC-eligible team in the female division. Instead, RNB has repeatedly referred us to Ringette Canada’s requirements for a male division—when our request has always been about including one male player in the female division.
This approval would allow our son, who has played ringette for four seasons and competed in tournaments across all five ECRC provinces (NB, NS, PEI, ON and QC), to continue playing the sport he loves at a level that matches his skills.

Ringette Canada and representatives from Ringette New Brunswick met on Aug 20th. Message we received afterwards was that there were action items taken from that meeting including contacting representatives from other provinces. They do not yet have a decision to share with us.

I also have a male goalie/player, he will outgrow B soon I suspect and would like to be tiered appropriately in the future. Also we support all male players in any capacity they want to play!
I had the privilege to coach Lucas last year and he turned into one of my favorite kids I've ever coached. Lucas is an amazing goalie who puts his heart and soul into this sport. Even though he is a boy, those girls included him in everything, and he was always hanging out with them. We NEVER had an issue because of his gender. This boy is one of the sweetest kids you would ever meet and has a heart of gold. Male or not, this kid deserves to play. I support Lucas.
Lucas wants the opportunity to continue playing the sport he's passionate about. It is incredibly disappointing to see a child potentially lose that opportunity when there is no equivalent male division available to him. Youth sport should be about creating opportunities for kids to participate, develop, compete and feel like they belong. I strongly believe Lucas deserves the same opportunity as his teammates to play the sport he loves.
We need to support female and male if they want to play any sports that is including ringette. This young guy played for many years as a goalkeeper, and because he’s advancing to U14, they want accept him because he’s a male , unacceptable in today’s society .please consider removing this rule in the association !!

Lucas has been on many of my daughters teams over the last 4 years and they have competed multiple times in QC, in ON and all throughout NB.
