I am signing this petition to demand justice for Kawanthissa, the tusker whose life was lost, and to call for accountability from the relevant authorities, including the Sri Lankan Department of Wildlife Conservation. The death of a magnificent wild elephant is not merely the loss of one animal. It is the loss of a precious part of Sri Lanka’s natural heritage. Their lives should not be treated as disposable, and their protection must be taken seriously.

It is regrettable that the necessary treatment for the elephant 'Kavantissa' was not provided promptly, and that the relevant authorities failed to take appropriate action—in other words, they were negligent. A similar incident involving the elephant 'Bhathiya' occurred just a few months ago. I hope that such occurrences will be prevented in the future.
