In Ancient Greece the Olympics were born. With this global event came the Greek ideals of brotherhood, peace and sportsmanship. However, in the modern Olymics the ideal of global peace during the games has been lost. We should embrace and promote the goal of global peace during the duration of the olympic games. This is the Olympic Truce
We wish to have a United Nations signed truce, by all UN members to cease aggression, war and violence during the Olympic Games.
Our Olympians should feel safe when attending the games. Furthermore, instead of representing one color, race or creed of people, in their hearts the Olympians should be competing to represent the finest athletes among man kind.
Your online signature states that you support the ideals of the Olympics and that you support an effort by the United Nations as well as any other global leaders to hold a time of peace and acceptance of one another during the Olympics. Our goal is to make the Athens 2004 Olympics the begining of the Olympic Truce for people united across the globe.
The Olympics are supposed to be a time of joy and happiness. Let your voice be heard so that this joy is not dampened by the echoeing of gunshots and bomb blasts around the world.
