The project is officially off the table and the Alhambra Corridor will remain as it is. I am still in shock that our small group managed to stop this but it is entirely because of your help. Thank you for protecting our neighborhood.
REGARDING: The Proposed Alhambra Corridor Walgreen\'s Project
To: Officials of Walgreen\'s and the City of Sacramento
We, the undersigned citizens, voters, and taxpayers of Sacramento, CA oppose the destruction of an intact, authentically urban commercial block at Alhambra Boulevard and L Street to build a 24 hour Walgreen\'s pharmacy.
We are satisfied that the neighborhood is adequately served by two large 24 hour pharmacies within a two block radius and many smaller drugstores within a two mile radius.
We argue that the rich architectural heritage, appealing pedestrian scale, and existing small businesses of the Alhambra Corridor will be irreparably damaged by the imposition of a out-of-scale, big box retail store.
We demand that our elected and appointed officials block this assault on one of Sacramento\'s most historic neighborhoods and that Walgreen\'s instead select a location that is in need of a 24 hour pharmacy.
We the Undersigned,
I have been spending my time lately reaching out to local offices to ensure they see the names gathering here. It is truly humbling to realize how many of you care just as deeply about protecting the character of our neighborhood as I do.

This neighborhood is beautiful and walkable let's keep it that way. No to the L street location.

Ridiculous. We dont need another 24 hour pharmacy. There are like 3 within walking distance. Leave our local shops alone.

Please dont let them tear it down. Alhambra is a local gem and shouldnt be turned into a corporate parking lot.

We have enough pharmacies already. Why ruin a perfectly good historic block for another chain store nobody asked for?

KEEP WALGREENS OUT. This city is losing its character one block at a time. Enough with the big box stores.
