The closure of the Co-Op store will have a huge impact on the local community, which would be left without a supermarket.
The closure will mean the loss of jobs and will impact those who are less mobile and unable to travel elsewhere to shop.
Co-Op’s last-minute decision to pull out of St Anns comes despite the Council’s effort, even offering them the premises rent free, but they refused to negotiate.
Despite Co-Op’s supposed social conscience, they are leaving our community without a supermarket. The store is due to close on November 17th.

I have been spending my nights writing to the corporate office and the local council to demand a real explanation for this departure. Silence is all I get back from the decision makers but I am not stopping.

Ridiculous decision. This shop is the heart of St Anns. People rely on it for their food. Dont shut it down!!!!
This is ridiculous. My nan walks there every single day and she cant get to the other shops on the bus. Co-op should be ashamed of themselves.

So many of us will have nothing nearby now. Why turn down free rent? Makes no sense at all.
