I am marries to a person who owes back support and California steals my return every year. She owes 35000 and they take about 7000 a year from my tax return. It does not even cover the interest. We will never pay this debt and they are not even my kids. If their were no interest this debt would be paid in 5 years. This is an injustice to me and my kids. They take from my kids to pay for her kids.

The interest is criminal. My balance literally goes up every month even though I send payments in. How am I supposed to ever get ahead with these insane rates eating me alive?

My interest needs to be stopped

I have an ex that used my inability to receive modification from the AGs office when I was unable to pay my child support to terminate my parental rights. I currently owe $57K and pay more than $3k a year which is all stolen by the state in interest. I make no headway period and support two children I have sole custody of. How is it fair? I couldn't receive the modification I was legally entitled to under the law which allowed for the balance to balloon exponentially. Their is no way I could possibly explain the injustice of the interest when I am attempting to make good on the mistakes of a younger me. The penalties of interest are grossly unfair if payments are being made . Further these are not "debts" but obligations. Debts have contracted interest. No order ever given in child support orders outline interest to be charged if someone is physically unable to earn to pay.
