This is a petition to get the 1998 Universal/DreamWorks film Small Soldiers on Region 1 Blu-ray as soon as possible. The film though not hugely successful during it's initial theatrical run in the Summer of 1998 in the subsequent years has amassed a good-sized cult following and is a fondly remembered film by many millennials who grew up with it during their childhood years. It's only Blu-ray release so far has been in Germany. The movie has yet to see release on Region 1 Blu-ray despite considerable demand and interest among fans. With this petition we hope to change that.

We hope to see Small Soldiers finally hit Region 1 Blu-ray with a brand new HD remaster, one especially in 4K would be amazing if possible. In regards to special features, all of the features from the German Blu-ray release which includes the original 1998 Size Doesn't Matter electronic press kit (EPK), the Toys In Hell featurette with director Joe Dante, the deleted scenes and special effects, blooper reel, image gallery and theatrical trailer would all be good to port over and should be easy enough to. But any new features would be a bonus if it could be done. Particularly a new hour-long retrospective with brand new cast and crew interviews and never-before-seen production footage, individual featurettes on the Commando Elite and Gorgonites as well as the Commandos' attack vehicles, the rarely seen music video for Bone Thugs N Harmony's cover of War and audio commentaries; particularly one with director Joe Dante as well as one with the writers and if Gregory Smith and Kirsten Dunst could be brought together for a reunion commentary that would be an awesome treat for fans. Other new features could include concept art and storyboards. Tributes to cast and crew members who've passed away since the film's production such as Phil Hartman, Stan Winston, George Kennedy and Ernest Borgnine would be nice as well.

With the film's 20th anniversary approaching in 2018 there's no better time to give this cult classic of the millennial generation a proper Blu-ray release. With enough signatures and interest, we hope to finally get this movie on Region 1 Blu-ray as soon as possible and in a high-quality edition with both the image and sound quality as well as special features. Please make this happen, Universal and DreamWorks.
