In the two years Coqui Mexicano has been opened, we have managed to become a Safe Haven for our community’s children, we have founded a free community literacy project, we have supported our local artists & artisans, all while serving healthy and made to order food at affordable prices. As everyone in this nation is aware, the past two years have been the most difficult for small businesses in this economy. Coqui Mexicano has been no exception. But, just as our community and our shop have begun to see an upswing - with the upcoming opening of Boricua Village/Melrose Commons and other residential developments in the surrounding area- Coqui Mexicano was served with a Notice of Eviction. Please show your support of our role (as long time community residents and small business owners) in the community by signing this petition and requesting that we be granted an opportunity to stay.

We are gaining momentum and approaching 250 signatures. Post this link on your Facebook page and text three friends to sign right now. We need the property owners to see our base growing before the next hearing.

This place is the heart of the neighborhood. We need them here especially with all the new buildings going up. Dont let them kick out local folks who actually care about us.

Ridiculous to evict a spot that does so much for the kids. My daughter loves the reading project. Keep them in the bronx!

Such a shame. The literacy program helped my son so much last summer. Hope things work out for you guys.
