We WON!!!

After 4+ years of staying vigilant and going public we have managed to save our trails! The Santa Margarita River trail system is now in Escrow with the Wildlands Conservancy and a public easement for non-motorized use will be placed on the deed at time of sale!!!

The Santa Margarita River Valley trail system has been created and maintained for over 25 years by the Fallbrook Trails Council. Currently Fallbrook Public Utilities District (FPUD) water district owns the land and has allowed non-motorized public trail use including Equestrian use on this property. FPUD is in the process of selling this land, we would like the current public use maintained throughout this sale and any future sales. To this end, we the undersigned petitioners request that FPUD record a legal easement on the deed to provide for non-motorized public trail use including equestrians, throughout the river valley property. We also request that this is recorded as floating trail easement on the Deed immediately so there is no question or negotiation as to the trail use.

I've lived in Fallbrook 16 to 17 Years and have ridden on these trails. I've also joined work groups to clean the trails. Myself and friends who ride in this area appreciate and respect the trails and area. Please do not close this to equestrian use.

Please ensure that we can continue to enjoy the last of the free flowing rivers in the area. It is truly a treasure of North San Diego County . Would be a travesty if it was taken from us and "put in a museum" with no access for hikers and horses.

This is practically in my backyard. I've been going down these trails since I was a very little girl and it would break my heart losing such a beautiful place simply because people abuse it. They have already restricted the water hole...now this? No!

I strongly support the request that FPUD record a legal easement on the deed to provide for non-motorized public trail use including equestrians, throughout the river valley property and that this is recorded on the Deed prior to any sale closing. Erna Adelson

The Equestrians and horses aren't destructive to the land. In fact the San Luis Reyna Downs closed down golf course only allows pedestrians and Equestrians for that reason. Please preserve the horse trails. Equestrians are nothing but respectful.

I take my daughter down there all the time. We love the diversity of plants and animals. Not to mention the various geologic features. I see it as a great resource for teaching my daughter about nature. It would be a shame to loose access.
