This petition is to help our organization create a legal mountain bike trail at the Crossroads at Ft. Pierce . There is an existing trail that has been built, maintained and self-policed by volunteers for years. This trail has evolved into one of the premiere area trails that draw riders for nearby communities, states and even foreign countries. It was created to give individuals the opportunity to ride bicycles in a safe, off-road, natural environment. It has been maintained in a way to conserve that pristine natural environment that everyone loves. This is passive recreation that makes no exception for gas or fuel powered vehicles. Our construction of the trails has been guided by IMBA- the International Mountain Bike Association. IMBA directives, knowledge and guidelines have been implemented to make a sustainable low impact trail system. This trail has been in existence for over a decade and has successfully maintained. Volunteers have spent thousands of hours in creating and maintaining the trails. Signs have been installed to help direct riders through the varying skill levels. Our trails have 3 levels of difficulty. This is not a beginner trail. There are roots, hills, dips, log-overs, and other obstacles that require skills to be able to ride this trail. However, there are bypasses for the most difficult features on the trail, thus providing a fun trail for varying degrees of skill while still challenging the experienced riders. There are riders from the age of 5 all the way up to 70-plus. The Crossroads Mountain Bike Trail is facing the concern of being closed. With the location of the trail being away from the public eye, the only way to draw attention to ourselves is with this petition and our unified voice. Please help us and voice your opinion on this petition. Please provide a valid email address and/or phone number so we can keep you notified of actions being taken or support that is needed. Thank you in advance, Mike Cook SaveTheTrailFTP@yahoo.com
