The Stampede Closed Area is being restored and those wolves finally have their sanctuary back. My hands are shaking as I type this because it was a long and draining fight that I often thought we might lose. We won this together but we need to stay vigilant to ensure …
We the undersigned support reinstating the Stampede Closed Areaon Alaska state lands surrounded by Denali National Park. The closure would prohibit the taking of wolves by hunting or trapping within the designated boundaries (shown in map below). The closure would provide needed protectionfor the wolves of Denali National Park when they move into this historicallyimportantpart of their habitat.
Twenty-five hundred people seeing the necessity of this protection is a heavy but welcome weight to carry. I am exhausted by the constant uphill battle, yet reading your names reminds me why we cannot stop now.

The path forward is exhausting and the opposition is dug in deep. We need to hit one thousand signatures right now to prove that our resolve will not break under pressure.

I have now cancelled my family's trip to Denali until they stop killing wolves and protect these beautiful essential animals. I hope more people do the same. Let's hit them where it hurts, their tourists dollars

You are destroying a national treasure. Don't you understand how much money Alaska could bring in through eco-tourism for the chance to see a pack of wolves??? You are squandering a major opportunity while you exterminate a species.

My family is interested in traveling to Denali to view wildlife - in particular, wolves. We have recently learned of the dramatic decline in the Denali wolf population and urge you to create buffers around Denali to help preserve the wolf population and, with it, economically beneficially tourism.

Please listen to science and the American public and citizens of Alaska, not small interest groups and protect these wolves that are part of Alaska's heritage and tourism dollars. Maybe that part will matter to you ?

I was raised in Alaska and am horrified that the bufferzone was dropped! Bring it back! Those wolves need the protection! If you don't have hunters overkill the moose and reindeer herds then the wolves won't over hunt the remaining population! Common sense people, it's a good thing!

Removing the buffer benefited a few hunters and trappers, and harmed the entire state as well as the millions of tourists who come to Denali to see wolves. Wake up--wolves are worth far more to Alaska alive than dead!
