We, the undersigned, support retaining and even expanding the buffer zones on state lands surrounding Denali National Park where hunting or trapping of wolves is currently prohibited. These buffer zones are due to expire in Spring 2010.
Recent declines in wolf numbers at Denali National Park support retention and even expansion of no hunting and trapping zones on state lands surrounding the Park. This is especially true for the state lands in the Stampede townships north of the Park, where winter conditions draw wolves from remote reaches of the Park onto lands outside the Park where hunting and trapping are legal.
