The other day when getting gas at Giant Eagle I noticed afterwards a $129 hold on my account. I first had thought that the pump I used may have been hacked and someone got a hold of my bank card number. I went to Giant Eagle to explain the situation and was treated that I was being irresponsible with my card, not the fact that there may be a security problem. When I get home I find out this has happened numerous of times to other people when getting gas. It seems gas stations feel they have the right to hold $129 of your money for 48 hours. That makes that money unavailable to you for those 48 hours. What happens if you don't even have that much in your account or if other bills go through while it's on hold? Or that night you need to pick up some groceries but you can't because your money is not available. They either need to end this practice or put up signs warning the consumer of this practice. I'm so tired of huge corporations feeling like they can take advantage of the general public. It's one thing to maybe do a small hold of a few dollars, but $129 is ridiculous to me. Sign if you agree there should be a warning sign for the consumer at the gas pump if the gas pump is doing this, or it should be taken away all together.
