This is a petition to support the creation of a PKD Day in New York on March 4. Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), affects 1 in every 500 people, regardless of their age, ethnicity, sex or where they live. It is the most common of all life-threatening genetic diseases. Half of those diagnosed with PKD need dialysis or a kidney transplant to stay alive. Currently there is no cure for PKD and a lack of awareness about this disease puts people at risk. Proclaiming March 4 to be Polycystic Kidney Disease Day will certainly raise this awareness and encourage more funding for a much needed cure.

Daniel Cowley, United Kingdom5 years ago Comments: I agree that more awareness is required. Also I am using this petition as a shameless plug for my own petition. Currently dialysis patiets do not qualify for automatic assistance for issues such as parking rights in the UK. This is wrong. Please take a look at www.ipetitions.com/petition/renalparkingrights Thank you in advance. Dan
