Final supporters
Noise from Heathrow airport affects more residents than any other airport in Europe, by an enormous margin. Indeed nearly a third of all people in Europe negatively affected by aircraft noise live under the Heathrow flightpath. An extra runway would simply be intolerable.
There are a number of very clear alternatives.Some argue for a new airport in the Thames Estuary. Some argue for expansion of Stansted. Others believe we should be facilitating a super-competitive multi hub for the whole city, with our three main airports in competition with each other. Others believe that can be achieved with no expansion at all.
Whichever option you favour, please sign this petition and indicate your strong opposition to expansion of Heathrow airport.
Please also circulate a link to this petition as widely as possible among your contacts. It will be taken directly to Prime Minister in Downing Street by your local MP.

The constant roar of these planes over my house is already unbearable and we cannot let them add another runway to this nightmare. We are almost at one thousand signatories so please get this into your group chats today so we can hit that mark before it reaches their desks.

There has been little discussion as to who fill fill the low paid service jobs which an expanded Heathrow will generate - if not already living in the area new residents will need to be brought in and then housed - where and with what level of subsidy?
The noise pollution from Heathrow is already intolerable. Night after night I am woken repeatedly by the noise of the so called “quieter” aircraft. Some nights I can barely sleep at all. Any expansion of Heathrow would be completely unacceptable.
In a few years time, Heathrow will need to expand even further which is not viable. It makes far more sense to build a new airport that is away from so many residential areas and hence will be able to expand in the future when capacity is reached.
Much as I dislike EU mechanisms, it's time we took this matter to the Court of Human Rights. We have a right to undisturbed sleep and to tolerable noise levels during the day. The current flight paths breach our rights; expansion will destroy them.
I am strongly opposed to any expansion of Heathrow airport, it is incredibly unpleasant being woken up at 4.30am most mornings and the constant noise of aircraft takes over our lives. Another solution must be found, i am in favour of the Thames Estuary

The health and well-being of the residents who are bombarded with noise from low flying aircraft at 2 minute intervals should come first as Gatwick has offered a better viable alternative. Therefore there is no justifiable reason to extend Heathrow.
