We the undersigned beleive that it is important to the people of New York State, especially those who live in the area of Schoharie County to keep Max V Shaul State Park open. The Max V Shaul State Park, located in the Town of Fulton, in Schoharie County NY is the only public campground in the county and vacinity. If this park closes, a Women's softball league will lose one of its fields, the County's Youth Bureau will not have a place to take its young campers, and the County will lose sales tax revenue that is generated from tourists who stay at the campground. Because this park is a campground, the camping fees generated offset much of the campground's expenses. In light of tough economic times, the need for inexpensive recreational activities close to home are more important than ever. By keeping Max V Shaul State Park open, this important recreational facility will provide those activities. We request that the members of the New York State Legislature restore the necessary funding to keep this park open.
