The Petition

Having a zoo in our backyard is a very special opportunity and we want to be able to take advantage of that as often as possible. Observing some of the world\'s most interesting and rare animals is truly a unique experience.

This opportunity is being threatened. Funding shortfalls endanger our zoo. The zoo officially opened in 1875, and it is the fifth oldest zoological institution in the country behind such communities as Philadelphia, Chicago, Cincinnati, and Buffalo. Age has brought a great need for improvement and the time has come to revive this historic landmark for future generations.

We the undersigned desire to be counted in favor of the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park. We acknowledge the need to maintain the Binghamton Zoo for future generations. We further acknowledge that the Binghamton Zoo is an educational tool that our children cannot afford to lose. We believe that the zoo increases the quality of life here in Greater Binghamton. We believe that this Zoo is critical in revitalizing our region. We ask our Legislators to stand with us in supporting this historic landmark. We ask them to help keep the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park open and growing.

By affixing our signatures below we affirm our support for the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park!
