To: Mayor Ballard and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Development Commission We, the undersigned residents and friends of Indianapolis, oppose the proposed renaming of Georgia Street for the new public space venue planned for the Super Bowl and future events. We believe that the City should keep and respect the 190-year-old street name from Alexander Ralston’s original 1821 plat of the city of Indianapolis. We respectfully ask the Metropolitan Development Commission and the Mayor of Indianapolis to reject Indianapolis Downtown, Inc.’s proposal to rename Georgia Street for this three-block stretch, the only remaining section of Georgia Street within the mile square.
