About three years ago, the pool in Plate Cove East was damaged by Hurricane Igor and the residents of the surrounding communities, especially the kids, thought they would never get it back. Last year, with the efforts of the Recreation Committee, funding from the government and countless donations, there was enough money raised to get it re-built. Now the government has threatened to close it on us. Minister Nick McGrath feels that the pool is a safety issue, but we feel that by closing the pool, HE is promoting unsafe and unhealthy swimming habits as there are no regulations for swimming in brooks or the ponds where there are sharp rocks and broken glass! Several people have contacted Minister Nick McGrath to show their concerns, but every person counts in this situation. Please sign and share this petition and show the government of Newfoundland how much we care about our pool that has been around since 1967!

We hit 250 signatures and Minister Nick McGrath is going to have a hard time ignoring this much anger. He thinks he can just shut down our pool without a fight but he has no idea who he is dealing with.
