About three years ago, the pool in Plate Cove East was damaged by Hurricane Igor and the residents of the surrounding communities, especially the kids, thought they would never get it back. Last year, with the efforts of the Recreation Committee, funding from the government and countless donations, there was enough money raised to get it re-built. Now the government has threatened to close it on us. Minister Nick McGrath feels that the pool is a safety issue, but we feel that by closing the pool, HE is promoting unsafe and unhealthy swimming habits as there are no regulations for swimming in brooks or the ponds where there are sharp rocks and broken glass! Several people have contacted Minister Nick McGrath to show their concerns, but every person counts in this situation. Please sign and share this petition and show the government of Newfoundland how much we care about our pool that has been around since 1967!

Ann Marie Allen (KEOUGH), Canada1 year ago Comments: This pool means everything to the people in Plate Cove and the surrounding communities a lot off our children learned how to swim in that pool. That pool is safer then any pond . When a mom of ten children will allow you to go and swim in that pool believe me you don't have anything to worry about ,if she was here today she would be fighting to keep this pool open . Please listen to the people.
