"KEEP NORTH MIDDLE SCHOOL POOL OPEN" In the February 13, 2010, edition of the Express News, was an article entitled "Parents to Falls School Board: Keep middle school sports". Within this article was a paragraph discussing the possible closing of the North Middle School Pool. It read as follows: "During a later discussion on the budget, Marty noted that the district was on the verge of closing the pool at the North building. A study determined that 60 percent of the pool use occurred after school. As a result, 60 percent of the pool budget is funded through the Community Education and Recreation Department." There are many people who utilize North Middle School....infant classes, little ones learning to swim in order to protect themselves should they fall into the water, children who desire to learn basic stroke technique, adults of all ages utilizing open swim to benefit their health, those young at heart who utilize the pool to exercise, the Menomonee Falls Dolphinettes, the Germantown High School Girls' Swim Team, the Menomonee Falls Swim Team and when needed, the Menomonee Falls High School teams. For young families wishing to participate in a swim program, joining the Y is not always feasible. The Menomonee Falls Recreation Department offers multiple programs for families at a reasonable price. Our community is lucky to have two working pools...our neighboring communities, Germantown and Sussex, do not have a pool to call their own. By coming to the Falls, they too benefit from the North Pool. If the North Pool has benefited you or your children, parents or grandparents, I urge you to sign this petition. We would like to present this petition at the Menomonee Falls School District Budget Forum scheduled for this Thursday, March 4 (7:30-9:30 p.m.) to be held in the North Middle School Library. We ask that anyone able to attend this meeting, please bring yourself and your voice in support of keeping North Middle School Pool open. Thank you.
