Dear Mr. Lazio: We the People of New York State appreciate that you are running for governor. We appreciate any candidate running to change the way our government does business. Clearly we need new leadership. But the fact that you accepted $1,300,000 or more in TARP money as a bonus last year while you were a lobbyist for JP Morgan is disturbing. That money is not yours or Wall Street's. It belongs to us, the People. We gave it to your bank to help small businesses stay afloat, and you put it in your personal bank account. That's not right. If you are truly serious about being a reformer, you should return to the Treasury the $1,300,000 dollars, or whatever the exact figure, in public money you accepted as a bonus last year. If you do that, we will know you are a serious reformer. If not, we will know you are just another part of the problem. It's really that simple. Please let us know what you decide to do. Sincerely, We the People of New York
