Shoppers are avoiding our town centre and local shops for fear of receiving a parking ticket from one of the many Traffic Wardens who are constantly on duty in our town. 1 Hour free is not long enough to visit our many lovely shops and to support our local businesses.
Please increase free parking to 2hrs on the high street and also in our large car parks.

The local shops are still struggling while the wardens continue their patrol as if nothing is wrong. I am still trying to get a straight answer from the council but they keep avoiding the conversation. It is exhausting work but the state of our town center keeps me pushing forward.

really need 2 hours of parking because if I have a hair appointment, that can take over an hour and then I shall want to do some shopping and then maybe a coffee or lunch. One hour is not enough. So I go elsewhere.
Stopped shopping in Newmills after having a ticket going over 5 minutes left car keys in the shops and did not know which shop so went over time. Now go shopping in Marple giving more time
At 8 and a half months pregnant I slipped and fell on the ice trying to rush back to my car after an appointment due to the 60 min limit. As I had fallen I was 10mins late and found the traffic warden giving me a ticket. 60 mins is not enough time to use the services provided by a lot of businesses and it is impacting the town
I live in new mills and my visitors are constantly getting tickets it's costing my family a fortune to come visit me parking should be free in a small town like ours
2 hrs free parking would encourage shoppers to use the cafes, library and to exercise in the Torrs too instead of having to leave earlier than they need to. Great idea!
Even 2 hrs is pushing it. Crazy rules
Free parking in new mills should be extended to 2 hours!

As a local shop owner I find people don't want to spend to long looking or even rush out once they realise the time as they're tickets running out, extending the time limits may encourage people to shop local and gives them so much more time to do so and visit more shops.
