The Draft Reassignment Proposal clearly places a higher burden on Carpenter Elementary (CE) than many of the surrounding elementary schools in educating students with higher needs. This is in direct contradiction with stated WCPSS policy that seeks a similar demographic makeup for nearby schools. We, the undersigned, believe that it would be fairer for both the students of CE, as well as any students that are projected to be moved to CE, if this responsibility was shared more equitably with our neighboring schools, especially since CE has much lower end-of-grade (EOG) test scores than many of these very same schools.
The consistent growth in support for this petition demonstrates a shared commitment to equity within our district. This momentum confirms that our concerns regarding the reassignment proposal are resonating with the broader community.

Look at the test scores and tell me this is fair. It is not. Stop ignoring the reality at Carpenter.

This whole plan makes no sense. Why keep piling on one school while others have plenty of empty seats? Fix the boundary lines.

Carpenter needs smaller classes not bigger ones. This proposal is a joke.

My oldest goes to Carpenter and the teachers are burnt out to be honest. They need help and the district is just ignoring the actual numbers.

Just move some of the load to the other schools nearby. Its common sense.

UNFAIR. Do the math school board. You are failing these kids by not spreading the load out.
