The Roots of Empathy Program is a proven, anti-bullying strategy that relies of volunteer mother-child pairs to donate their time to classrooms and share the experience of raising a young baby with eager classrooms. The program is relatively low cost and has shown to be effective in helping combat bullying in schools. At a time when bullying is in the public eye more than ever with the tragic loss of so many young people, taking their own lives due to bullying, the Ministry of Education has cut this program, denying schools across the province the small amount of $250 needed to keep this program going in their schools. This is an outrage and a clear message that the Ministry is paying little attention to current events or the interests of our children.
