We the undersigned wish to express our support of the recommendation by HRM transportation planning staff for the widening of Bayers Road. As the major entry and exit point for Halifax, Bayers Road needs to be redeveloped to accommodate the growth that Halifax has experienced since it was last done in 1949. Widening of Bayers Road will allow for improved transit service, reduce greenhouse gas emissions by reducing unproductive idling time caused by traffic gridlock, and improve peoples quality of life. As a major artery, Bayers Road needs to be reconfigured to accommodate the massive growth that has occurred in areas outside the Halifax peninsula. We urge HRM Council to move forward with the project as outlined by staff with all haste.
