Safer Roads Prevent Future Deaths
Congratulations to the MAP Foundation! After 28-year-old Michael Pandel was killed while crossing Semoran Blvd on his bicycle in Orlando, they launched a petition to install street lights on this dangerous stretch of road that had seen other pedestrian deaths in the past.
Their petition exceeded their goal of 500 signatures. They just received notice from the Florida Department of Transportation and MetroPlan Orlando that funding for a street lighting project is approved for the 2013-14 fiscal year!
Congratulations on making the roads safer.

Arlington National Cemetery burial for civilian contractor
Michael Robert Bradford was killed in Kabul Afghanistan on 05/16/2013 by a suicide bomber. Michael's wish was to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery and since he was not on active duty, but still under his active reserve contract, we are being met with the fact that he may not get to be buried there.
His mother's petition collected over 650 signatures. Their wish was granted and he received a burial in Arlington Cemetery.

The first step in justice for Aaron Juarez
On June 1, 2013 Aaron Juarez died as a result from being punched once in the face, knocked unconscious, causing him to fall backwards, hitting his head on the concrete parking lot. Aaron hit his head, resulting in severe head trauma from which he could not survive.
The man responsible for this is David Alvarez, 31 years old from Corpus Christi, Texas. David Alvarez was arrested on Thursday June 6 and had a bond set at $200,000. Mr. Alvarez's family and his attorney have requested a reduction of that bond. This petition has been started to ensure that doesn't happen.
Over 3,100 signatures were collected to support the denial of the bond reduction request. Alvarez was scheduled for a bond reduction hearing Thursday morning and his attorney Scott Ellison was going to ask 28th State District Judge Nanette Hasette to lower Alvarez’s $200,000 bail. But Ellison canceled the hearing earlier this week and didn’t reschedule it for another day, according to court staff.
Aaron Juarez's killer remains in jail.
