We are setting up a petition for the local government to recognise the support and need of a full time venue. To promte the health and wellbeing of those current and future members in Aylesbury and surrounding areas for a martial arts centre. We are awaiting planning permission on change of use of premises and we are up against guideline "PPS6" that state. "PPS6 Planning for Town Centres advises that an applicant should demonstrate that there is a need for such facility and then a sequential approach should be taken towards site selection for retail and leisure uses. This requires that sites within existing centres be looked at first followed by edge of centre locations, then out of centre locations. When weighing up competing sites preference should also be given to those sites that are well connected to the town centre and served by a choice of means of transport". Plus show that the "ALUTS" Aylesbury Land Use/ Transport Strategy. Is aimed at new developnments and this classes change of use for premises as a new development and seems to be a very rigid guideline. We hope to seek as many signatures.

The refusal of the council to see this venue as a benefit to the community is based on rigid planning guidelines that ignore our actual needs. Post this link on your Facebook page and send an email to your local representative to demand they re-evaluate the ALUTS policy. We are fighting to prove that our health and wellbeing deserve a permanent home in this town.

We hit our first major milestone today and it proves the local government cannot ignore the demand for this facility. Now you need to email your local representatives and demand they reconsider the rigid constraints of the land use strategy. Tell them we need a dedicated space for our community.

Aylesbury needs this. Too many kids just hanging around the shops causing trouble. Give them somewhere to train and learn some respect.

Ridiculous red tape. It is a gym not a shopping centre. Let them open!!

My son has been looking for a proper club for ages. The council really need to stop making things so difficult for small businesses trying to help the community.

About time. Plenty of empty units around here anyway. Why not use them for something positive.

Hope this goes through. Martial arts helped me so much when I was younger and it would be great to have a full time centre in town.
