YRT 242 shuttle bus need to run continuously

Please keep 242 running. I have to reply on the shuttle bus to get to Richmond Hill station and back home after work. Otherwise, I have to walk more than 30 minutes each way. The situation is even worse in winter times.

I take this bus everyday. I need it to get to work and back. Please do not cut it. Thanks,

Route 242 mainly serves Weldrick Rd., Pemberton Rd., May Ave., and Palmer Ave. This route serves the North Richvale community, connecting it to Richmond Hill GO Station. History The earliest precursor to this route is Richmond Hill Transit route 6. It has a rush-hour extension from it's western loop along May and Palmer to Richmond Hill GO Station. When YRT took over operations, this became route 86B. Route 242 came into operation in 2004, when a major restructuring in Richmond Hill simplified route 86, eliminating the branches. Route 242 operated along the rush-hour portion only, ending at Hillcrest Mall. It has been operating along the same route ever since. In 2007, YRT announced that GO Shuttles would allow passengers to get off before a GO Station in the AM, and on after the station in the PM. This allows people to use them as a regular YRT bus. YRT warns that if the GO train is cancelled, or there are no passengers at the GO station, the run will be cancelled. The aftermath of the 2011-2012 YRT/Viva strike had a negative effect on ridership on this route, as passengers with access to cars would now rather drive to the nearest GO station. Route 242 was declared fully accessible in December 2012. The 2013 Annual Service Plan originally had the route discontinued, however this was never implemented due to concerns from connecting GO train passengers. Vehicles

I rely on this shuttle often, especially in the winter and have met many people every ride I take that also rely on it.

We live in North Richvale area of Richmond hill and we rely on shuttle bus 242 to commute to and from Richmond Hill go station. Canceling this shuttle bus service will have significant impact on my commuting and I want to petition this decision.

Please bring back 242, without 242, my commute will be significantly impacted

I take this bus everyday. I need it to get to work and back. Please do not cut it.

Please this bus is needed as a timely connection We do not all have access to cars to. We should not be punished for being environmentally friendly!!

Please keep the route 242, as there is no other acceptable way to get to the Richmond Hill Go Train! With other options I will arrive either too early or potentially too late, and have to walk long distance to the nearest bus stop. Which is going to be even worse during bad weather.

Hello, I really need the route 242 bus. If it is discontinued it will affect our daily life. As a recommendation, it is also possible to reduce the number of buses in this way (in the time when there is no passenger) instead of cancelling the morning bus. After hearing from other passengers, further looked at the YRT navigation map. There is no public service in west of young-south of major Mac. 242 is a core coverage for this area, The “option 83/83A 99” is not the practical options considering the rush morning hours. when 242 is claimed to be discontinued, we realized it is so important, essential and critical for our life. Hi, We have recently moved to Weldrick Rd W. Before we move, we counted and relied on having rout 242 as our commuting vehicle. If it gets canceled, I would have to walk for about 15 minutes to Carrville road to take the bus to Rutherford GO. This will affect my schedule and is so hard especially in the winter. Canceling this rout will encourage more residences in the area to be single drivers, and will discourage other people to consider this area as a livable place to move. This is against urban sustainable development. City should be responsible to provide accecebality to all tax payers, regardless if it is profitable or not. Thanks for your consideration in advance.

This bus is critical to my family. We were able to give up our second car.

also noticed the service option listed by YRT was not newly designed routes. Plus we need bus drivers to run our route as their job to support their family while servicing the public. Trust that is also their desire. In case high rider area need drivers, I would encourage YRT to hire more drivers and create job opportunities for the society. By contrastingly looking at the expansion costs spent on young street, I would say spendings on public transportation that passengers keenly need at this moment is more practical, meaningful and effective. Without staying in present, how to ensure the future? I can feel the driver would regret if the 242 route and their people connections they were running for so long are suddenly cut off.

We are relying on this route. it is up to the YRT how they want to manage the schedule and resources and or update the routes to accommodate this area of Richmondhill, but the service for this area is required and there is no alternative for us
