we wanted to make this petition because we feel that help for mental health given through NHS Scotland could be better, we want to solve this issue and the lengths of the long waiting lists (which on average is 18 weeks.) However the NHS want to help but they are unable to help everyone because mental health is a big issue is Scotland.
I really thought this might just stay between me and a few friends but looking at how many of you showed up has left me honestly stunned and kind of overwhelmed in the best way. It feels like the tide is finally turning on how we talk about these waiting lists and maybe now the people in the offices that actually decide things will finally have to look at us.

As I have suffered with mental health issues in the past and still are trying to manage them daily, I believe the NHS need to take it more seriously and try to develop ways to manage the situation better.

Of course there should be some kind of support but as of late the NHS can't even afford to treat physical health, nevermind mental.

18 weeks is way too long when you are struggling. by the time you get an appointment its basically useless. things have to change now.
