The mayor of Stamford, CT, David Martin, wants to close down Smith House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center because the nursing home ran a projected shortfall of $5.7 million last year. This means 128 people who worked their whole lives for the city of Stamford, paid their taxes, made a decent living in their day, helped build the city and this how the State pays them back. Do they really expect a nursing home to make a profit?
