Motion to move Grad Ball back to the Racecourse
Every year a Graduation/Summer Ball is held at the Racecourse as a final event for all the final year students to celebrate the end of many years of hard work. This year, YUSU have decided to move the event to campus. This means dinner in the Roger Kirk, drinks in the Courtyard and a fair ground in Goodricke car park. Unfortunately, this all happened somewhat secretively, with most people completely unaware until it was printed in Vision in week 10 of Spring term. Conveniently this occurs just before the holidays begin, possibly preventing any changes from happening. As much as we all love campus (and we, the undersigned, do indeed love it) the idea of this final event is a special event, away from the places we have lived, and away from the events that we have religiously attended in the college bars. Furthermore, we are worried about those who still live on campus and will have to hear this event going on well into the next morning, especially those who have exams. The Racecourse provides something different, and although there may be many downsides - such as transportation and drinks prices - there are many advantages. And for this reason, we would like the Grad Ball moved back to the Racecourse, for both this year - and the foreseeable future. Thank you
