The YMCA cause is to strengthen community's by working side-by-side with its neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. With locations in over 10,000 neighborhoods across the nation, the Y has the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but deliver positive change. For nearly 160 years, it has been listening and responding to its communities.The Y has connected people of all ages and backgrounds to bridge the gaps in community needs.Now more than ever, Lake Charles is in need of a community program that will help get kids out of the streets and into a more productive environment. Crime rates and gang violence has risen over the years as the city continues to grow and something must be done to help assure that the youth are well taken care of. With the support of locals and community leaders, we can provide an safe haven for everyone to not only engage in healthy activities but to connect with one another. Let's build something for families, for children and teens, for singles and seniors in the lake area. Summer camps, sports leagues, wellness programs and much more are all incorporated into the nonprofit organization. Of course this will not solve all issues related to the issues at hand, but it will be a step in the right direction.
