Yigo Flood Mitigation Project - Low Impact Development Solutions
Guam has common problem with floods and erosion across its roadways because of lack of stormwater drainage systems. As our island community continues to become more urbanized and the impacts from climate change increase, there will be more flooding and erosion damage to property, if proper stormwater management measures are not taken.
The purpose of this project is to implement flood mitigation systems for three flood zones in Yigo village, as part of an collaborative effort to promote green infrastructure and low impact development for the island. Three roadways were selected for implementing rain garden/bio retention solutions, Chalan Lujuna street near Yigo McDonalds, Iglesias Street, and Chalan La Chanch street.
Help us bring these flood mitigation systems to a reality by signing your support for the project.
