I am totally opposed to a predictive rota; not because I do not want to work unsocial hours; I've always worked nights and weekends and have always accepted this was part of my job. This was counterbalanced by the possibility to request particular days off, days of my choice, which suited me, my personal life and my family. This was a fair system. It is also the system which was in place when I trained and when I joined St Thomas’.
I also feel the need to point out that my full-time colleagues are being punished for being full-time; not only do they work extremely hard, but when the predictive rota system is implemented, not only will they have to work 5 weekends out of 8 (!) the Trust will also decide which weekends they will be working and which weekends they will be free. I do not see how this can be reconciled with the idea of improving work/life balance and working conditions. Again, the argument that shifts can be swapped is totally unrealistic and untenable; we all know how virtually impossible it is to do so. And again, this was not the deal when we joined St Thomas’.
I do not presume to speak for everyone else, however this change has caused a great deal of resentment, anger and sense of being unfairly treated among all my colleagues I have spoken to. This is such a sad state of affairs.

I'm totally against predictive rostering as it doesn't allow choice and very unequal.

Taking away choice from staff will not help the sickness level. It will cause low morale and staff will not come In if important days cannot be swapped.

Would have a catastrophic impact on my current life , no to mention the fact that we will only have 1 full weekend off every 5 weeks .

I take this opportunity to voice my opinion against this new rostering system that has been implemented without formal notice to those affected. Personally I value the possibility of having the option to request if needed especially when working shifts, unsocial hours... To make our personal life more balance! Yes to requests!
